The School of Good Ideas: Lesson #2

Many good ideas arise from something pre-existing; the technology has been created, but there are opportunities for new applications or the technology does not yet exist. The observation of problems can be found in everyday life. Let's start thinking about how the things we do every day can be done better.
Here are our best 7 tips for identifying your best ideas and opportunities!

1. Discover common ground Every New Venture builds on a story derived from watching the environment. If you mix two topics, you can come up with something great!

2. Catching the "Next Wave" by observing shifts Observe a market shift in the news. But "shifts" can happen in tech, law, or social spheres, or everything all at once, as we saw with COVID-19. Catch that shift in time and use it to your advantage!

3. Connect with leaders Find people who connect people and ideas. Follow thought leaders, like Elon Musk and Bill Gates, who are thinking ahead, and expand on their ideas!

4. Pick a Target or Something to Disrupt "I hate banks!" you say. So create a Fintech solution! You can disrupt existing businesses to create something that works better.

5. Your own frustration – i.e. your own story You are the typical customer. Find something you really care about and put that "better way" you keep thinking there must be to work!

6. Spend time where the action is likely to be Be at the centre of the action--use social media to stay on top of trends in your industry and follow the news so you know what problems need solving.

7. Observe people at the leading edge. Scientists, entrepreneurs, and artists are changing the world and helping to break down barriers. Keep an eye on them!
